i would like to make another journal entry using this marvellous site deviant art. i am grateful that so much cool stuff is available to people on the net for free, and that people have the chance to put their thought out amongst the larger community with complete ease. this world needs more communication.
but it struck me last night as i browsed a few peoples profiles and journal entries. all these people only ever speak about themselves. i dont know these people personally, im not making personal attacks on anyone. but they never speak of burning hot issues around us that is really what sites such as this could be used for. they speak of meaningless shit 90% of the time, and it makes me sad reading it, and even sadder being amongst it. part of the mob. sites like bebo promote ego massaging and self obsession. i dont think it is healthy for people to be so into themselves. if you start a bebo or my space, why not use the power it can bring to speak about things of value and meaning. surely this world is bigger than our bedrooms, surely our minds are capable of something more. i dont look down on people who are interested in my space as a way make themselves look arty and cool, and to meet people on the net, coz i found myself doing it only a few months ago. i commend all the artists on this site who use it to push their art, and make money doing something they love. but for the most part it is dribble, not just on deviant art. i urge anyone reading this to visit bebo or myspace. self indulgent waste of time is what i would class most of it as. i know not many people will ever look on my deviant art profile, but i am going to spread the word to artist buddies and free thinking friends and try to make this site somewhere people have the opportunity to see something different, make and sell art, and forget their bedrrom and the four walls around you, and think of a bigger picture.
